Hi Moms,
Do you have a MySpace profile?
The media is all over the fact that MySpace is just for the under 25 crowd and infiltrated with "bad guys" , but in a recent MySpace survey, it appears there is a growing network of MySpace Moms that are extremely active in the social network and for a variety of reasons.
Here are the top reasons moms joined the most popular social networking site:
- 37% to keep in touch with their friends
- 23% to meet new people
- 26% to keep an eye on their kids
This astounding feedback indicates that 37% of the MySpace Moms visit the site 3 or more times daily and spend more than 30 minutes on the site every single day. Ninety-two percent of the moms also indicated they would recommend the site to other moms.
43% of the MySpace moms are reading friend's blogs and 45% take time to post comments.
These stats show that MySpace is not just a teen fad, but it is a revolutionary social network medium for all generations and all lifestyles and it is here to stay and that Moms are becoming a growing and increasingly active segment of this network!
The MySpace Moms survey consisted of moms 35+ years of age with a majority having 2 children under age 18 and only 25% are stay-at-home moms.
I would love to hear from you if you are a MySpace Mom and why you joined or if you think this is something you might consider in the future?
GO Moms!
Julie

Hey, I am a myspace mom. I'm 29 with two kids, one girl who is 8 and one boy who is 2. I am a stay at home mom. I started using myspace right before our 10 year high school class reunion. We all got in touch months before the event started. We couldn't live without myspace now. I have friends all over the world in the military and some halfway across state and some just the other side of town. We all LOVE the blogs to see what's going on in eachothers households and we are hoplessly addicted to the surveys. We use the comments to lift eachother up. It's been like an email service that we can personalize, put a soundtrack to and have pics all over the place. We love it!

I am a MySpace dad, but my son is 3 months old LOL. I joined MySpace because many of my college friends I had lost touch with encouraged me to do so. It was great at first, now it has lost its luster. But the kids at the K-12 school I work for love it and dont get tired of it. I have done a few presentations for parents at the school about online safety and I actually ENCOURAGE the moms and dads to create a MySpace account so that they can see their childs MySpace profile and see who is on their friends list. Rather than them "spying" on their kids, they are out there in the open. This can create an openness for communication of kids and parents. I touch on this on my site many times.

I'm a 21 year old mom with 3 kids. I have a 6 yr old, 2 yr old, and a 1 yr old. I like to get on myspace to talk to old friends that I went to school with. I lost touch with a lot of my friends when I became a mom at such a young age (I was considered a bad influence) but, I like to get on here. I love finding out how some old friends are doing in college and see who has kids now and who doesn't. I get to talk to just about everyone on here!
